Search Space Reduction for Localization and Tracking of an Acoustic Source

Experimental data from the SACLANTCEN 1993 Mediterranean Experiment are reviewed to assess reduction of search space for localization and tracking an acoustic source in a three-dimensional environment. Key this goal is availability initial estimate range depth (called 2D guess); ambiguous bearing can be obtained guess through Environmental Signal Processing, ambiguity removed by searching only range/bearing regions where estimates higher. This provides new single bearing, which together with constitute center reduced tracking. The suggested approach tested on experimental experiment considering different frequencies, as well stationary moving source.
